My mother-in-law passed away September 28th, 2010. She fought with breast cancer, for what we thought, just a little over a month. However, time would prove to us that it was something she was dealing with alone. She protected us from the pain and sorrow that she knew would come from learning about the disease. She went in for treatment at the start of the month of September. We thought that she would be up and about in no time but God had a different plan for her. She kept everyone's spirit up, still with her smile and her laughter. She talked and continued to reassure everyone that everything would be okay. Still, the eyes never lie and she had the most beautiful eyes. They were what defined her. Her warming spirit soared through her eyes but this time they were saying something different. They were at peace. They had come to realize that it was time to leave this life and journey to the next. Her strength and love for family prevented her from telling anyone. She kept all that bottled inside. Alone, she faced every step of treatment until the treatment just wasn't enough. She slipped away from us late that fateful Tuesday night never to return but what she left us with was the hope that we would see her again. Her courage to do it alone was something we could never fully understand but we find strength in knowing that she is in a better place. A place where there is no hurt or pain or sorrow, just happiness and love and gladness all the days long. She will forever be missed and loved.
